Photographer's Note

One of the most important, yet most private, parts of the Forum in Rome was the Casa delle Vestali (House of the Vestal Virgins).

Hidden away from public eyes, yet only a stone's throw from the hub of Empiric power, the priestesses of the goddess Vesta played an important role from the time they were inducted into the order (often when only a child).

What remains of their house in the capital is now a place of seclusion and contemplation.
