Photographer's Note

Storm clouds loom over the Vallone di Gleris, Eastern Carniche Alps, Dolomites, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.

The idea was supposed to be sailing a mate of mine's boat down the Italian coast from the top of the Adriatic. But as you can see, there's not a lot of sea around. A combination of dodgy weather, but more importantly a broken engine, meant that we were stuck in Monfalcone (not a place anyone would willingly be stuck in!), and had to find alternative activities. So we hired a car and travelled around for a few days. This is in the Dolomites, in a little village called Aupa, and the weather was closing in again. That's why I chose a monochrome treatment, as the Autumn colour, spectacular enough in sunshine, didn't look so splendid under those rain-clouds, while the clouds themselves benefited from some Nik Silver FX work.

Here we are on Google Maps.
