Photographer's Note

This small shrine erected on the site of the oldest shops overlooking the square, occupies an almost central position on the eastern side of the forum, between the building of the temple and Eumachia Lares public, but offset from the last.
The magnificent altar in the center of the zone discovery is surmounted by a slab-bearings and sides are covered with four small white marble slabs, each bearing a relief decoration
The relief west - that could be seen immediately on entering the temple - offers a scene of sacrifice: the head veiled, a priest performs libations on a tripod covered the beginnings and is attended by ministers of religion , a flute player and two double lictors, while Papa (the assistant priest with a hammer or malteus, which kills the animal) and another victimarius lead the bull sacrifice. The arrangement of characters, heightened naturalism and delicacy of execution can be dated from the time the relief julioclaudienne. (Telephonica)
