Photographer's Note

The Crypt is the oldest part of the beautiful Church of Campli, Santa Maria in Platea, built with rectangular five naves parallel to the axis of the building, each divided into three rectangular bays by arches, with a scheme general which has many points of contact with similar buildings of the twelfth century Benedictine. There are preserved parts of a series of paintings that originally was to extend along all the walls: today you can see at once the central nave depicting the busts of the four Evangelists and in the end spans over two episodes Christological, the Resurrection and Pentecost , a panel depicting St. Helena that test the true Cross and St. Ursula with Virgin companions.

Ciao caro Silvio,

A beautiful and colourfully decorated ancient crypt and you have captured it perfectly in this very well composed photograph with the pillars perfectly placed in the frame and allowing us to see not only into the far distance but also to be able to admire the lovely paintings.

Despite what must have been rather poor light, you have managed it extremely well, the colours are vibrant but true and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

An interesting note too.

This is beautiful!
I'm sure it was a difficult shot, without natural light but you have captured the details and the colours with excellent clarity.
I love how the extending arches, with their patterned details, seem to be acting as a guide and as a frame to the illustrated panel.
