Photographer's Note

This is another statue on Grafton St ... a human statue. He is very comical. He stands still for a long period of time and then surprises people moving by. Many don't notice it's a person but assume it's just another of Dublin's many statues. Of course, if you take his photo he quickly points to his box for donations. Comical guy.

In the background is another famous Dublin landmark - Bewley's Cafe. Brendan Behan, Brian O'Nolan and Patrick Kavanagh were three famous regulars in the '50s, although those three renowned drinkers were probably there to sober up, rather than do any serious work. They're still great places for people-watching. James Joyce dubbed it "The Lofty Clattery Café".
