Photographer's Note

This is a follow-up from one I posted yesterday, another blue door in Dublin. This is in a different city (Limerick) from a different angle. I liked the way the sky reflected in the glass. The bright color made even the rather stark, imposing stone building appear bright and cheerful! From yesterday's note: Our guide said that the iconic colored doors in Ireland were actually painted bright colors only after the death of Queen Victoria! Apparently she visited Ireland a time or two but for some reason wasn't overly fond of Ireland or the Irish people, so when she died in the early 20th century her "subjects" were instructed to paint their doors black as a sign of mourning. The always-clever Irish had a different idea: they painted their doors bright colors, not really in "celebration" of her demise, but... lol At least, that's the story we heard...
