Photographer's Note

The Lonely Planet guide says that in high summer the Gap of Dunloe is "Killarney tourism at its worst". We were there in June and set out walking quite early (You aren't allowed to drive on the road that goes through the gap). A few other similarly minded people were also about.
The walk was, as a result, extremely peaceful and we were able to enjoy the morning sun on the hills and the reflections on the succession of small lakes. It meant, however that some of the hills were still a little dark as we were heading eastwards.
