Photographer's Note
This is the Long Room in the Trinity College Library. It was built between 1712 and 1732 and is 65 metres long. It holds some of the oldest and rarest books in the world.
Other treasures in the Long Room include one of the few remaining copies of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic which was read outside the General Post Office on 24 April 1916 by Patrick Pearse at the start of the Easter Rising. The harp is the oldest of its kind in Ireland and probably dates from the 15th century. It is made of oak and willow with 29 brass strings. It is the model for the emblem of Ireland

Hello Lisa,
Superb long perspective along this magnificent library room. Perfect exposure with beautiful warm colours and superb detail. I feel as if I could reach out and pick one of the books from its shelf.

Hi Lisa
Symmetry is the word...
Amazing interior shot and a bold dramatic POV! What an excellent example of perspective, classic vanishing point and fantastically vivid. Nicely retained colour, and the bright lights are very well contained too. it certainly is a fine building/structure and beautifully rendered in this image. You have bagged a cracker here. Congrats
Best wishes

Hello Lisa,
This long room obviously offers fine photo opportunities, considering there are so many lines and curves and other graphically attractive features. The mainly brown and yellowish tones are other important ingredients in the strong impact of this room. You used the possibilities well for a superb composition. The light is also perfectly managed.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao cara Lisa,
This is just an amazing shot!
You have transformed a room into a colour co-ordinated, symmetrical pattern. The lines, the curves, the textures are all so important and, you have composed it in such a way that we move effortlessly from f/g to b/g.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hey Lisa
Beautiful place, once of the nicest in the world I think, and it has a great mystery to it. I really like your take on this too, a great idea to exclude the ground level so that the towers and arches of books seem almost heavenly. Beautiful sombre grey light too.
I have to ask though, how did you manage to take this? When I was there they were very strict about cameras and the security guards were moving around live ninjas. Kind of like in the sistine chapel. Extra cool that you got this result while there may have been an Irish ninja rolling towards you
Cheers

Ciao carissima Lisa,
How wonderful to see you back posting photos here again, Lisa. Craig and I were worried about you but we suspected that you were probably very busy at work. Anyway, I hope your 'flu' is better now - it can be dreadfully debilitating.
This is a fabulous photograph from your trip to Dublin. I was going to ask if Noel took you here - but what I mean is - did Noel bring you here? If so, then he did us all a favour, letting you show us all this fabulously beautiful interior.
This library appears to be completely constructed of, and lined with, wood so the colours are beautifully mellow and the old books and manuscripts on the many shelves tone in perfectly. You have composed this picture superbly and symmetrically, letting us see not only the enormous array of books but also the lovely ceiling, pillars and balustrades.
Glorious light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
Fabulous!
Kindest Regards e un abbraccio,
Giovanni.

What a beautiful photo of this old library. I really like the perspective and the many warm tones of the books and the old woodwork. The sharpness and lighting are both spot-on. Great photo work!

John and I were just talking about you, and how you don't post many photos on a regular basis anymore :(

you have succeeded brilliantly with the composition, lighting, and exposure. Not even sure how you could improve on it. love the pov and long lines. keep it coming!

Hello Lisa,
Wow! This room is appropriately named! What a stunning library, and your presentation is excellent. The symmetry, the color of the wood and the books, and, of course, the long ceiling, are all great. The room, and the photo, are impressive. :-)

Ciao Lisa,
this may be my favourite place in Dublin.
Since I have worked at TCD for 3 years I had a free entrance to this library and I have frequently enjoyed it. By the way photography is not allowed there :)
That is why I don't have photos from this beautiful place.
Although it is just a room with books -it has an incredible atmosphere which I cannot explain.
Never before or after I have seen a more impressive library room!
Very original presentation, the resulting geometry is fascination!
Beautiful!!!
