Photographer's Note

While on holiday in England/Europe in 1999 we arrived in Dublin and decided to go to the Guinness building. We had an interesting time there and when we left we saw this horse and cart. So I, naturally, wanted to take a photo of it. Stopping the car I jumped out to snap away, but this dear old man came out of a doorway and insisted I take a photo of him with the horse and cart. Now, Iím was only newly arrived in the northern hemisphere, more or less just got off the plane, and I knew nothing then about paying for photographs. But I soon found out. After one snap he held out his hand, and I, feeling quite scared, slipped my hand into my wallet and grabbed a handful of Irish coins and he took them all. I have no idea what I paid him as I didnít know what coin was what, but I have a fair idea that it was quite an expensive photo.

But we loved our time in Ireland and took many photos after that. I wonít forget this occasion.

I have scanned the photo and sharpened and brightened it.
