Photographer's Note

This two-storey castle was built by John Smith-Barry around 1820 as a holiday lodge to the design of the architects Sir Richard Morrison and his son William Vitruvius in Regency style. The nearby Fota House was his main residence. With its superb gardens and a world-renowned arboretum Fota House is one of Ireland's hidden treasures.
