Photographer's Note

The mountain which you see in this picture, Ben Bulben, sometimes spelt Benbulben or Benbulbin (from the Irish: Binn Ghulbain), is a large rock formation in County Sligo, Ireland. It is part of the Dartry Mountains, an area sometimes called "Yeats Country".
When seen from the north, as in this photo, the mountain has a shape of a huge hat. First thing which came to my mind when I saw it for the first time was the world famous Australian Uluru called also Ayers Rock. Hence the title.

Comparison of selected facts:
Elevation 863 m (2,831 ft)
The mountain is sacred to the Aboriginal people of the area.
Ben Bulben
Elevation 526 m (1,726 ft)
The mountain is sacred to the Irish people, in particular for the fans of the Yeats (famous Irish poet).

As you may know from my profile or my previous uploads I undertook a personal challenge to present here at least one photo from each county of Republic of Ireland. This photograph is from County Sligo and uploading it I have already presented 25 out of all 26 counties (SEE THE MAP). There is one more left and I do have already a picture, just have to find the time to work on it. I will continue later with 6 further Northern Irish counties which I did not take into account before because they are part of a different country (UK). I visited all of them but uploaded photos just from 3. I still need photos from the other 3. Nevertheless, I am soon (with the next upload) about to fill all the map of the country I currently live in. Is anybody there who managed the same with the country you live in?

This photo was taken at our recent TE meeting with darek1978. I hope he will shortly present to you his own fantastic version of this view.
