Photographer's Note

Iceland is not called the land of fire and ice for nothing. I don't know of anywhere else in the world one might find a boiling, steaming hot spring just next to a huge glacier.

I was lying on my belly to get a low angle. I only think I succeeded partly in making the little fountain stand out.

The dark layers in the glacier are ashes from volcanic eruptions. (Hekla, for example, is very nearby).
