Photographer's Note
Travelling east from Reykjavik in the south of Iceland, before reaching Skogafoss, one passes by the glacier-topped volcano Eyjafjallajokull, north of the Ring Road - the one which erupted in 2010, stopping air traffic in Europe for a couple of weeks. From time to time one catches glimpses of it above smaller, rocky peaks, and the farms which nestle beneath them.
The photo shows a typical breathtaking view of a small farm with Icelandic horses and sheep grazing, and a small farmhouse with a faded, red iron roof. I took great pleasure in watching the clouds' shadows drift across landscapes like this one. The only place-name I can find on the map that seems close to the spot where I took the photo is the tiny settlement of Asolfsskali, where there is a farm, a small church, a guesthouse and a cottage.

Hi Andrew,
Nice composition with this slope landscape, well framed with the tiny house at the feet of the mountains. Pleasant green hue and good effect with the ray of sun light, tfs.

hello Andrew.
This view with the big valley cowered with low grass and the rocks reminds me the island Skye. Indeed the breathtaking view, the lone hut and two horses look so tiny. Magnificent capture.
Kind regrads MAlgo
PS. I also found Toulouse delightful city. I have many pictures but no time to show them :(.

Hi Andrew
So small against the rocky mountains, I like the rounded shape of the field leading the eye on the off centered house
Cheers

Hi Andrew
My first glance at this photo made me think it was on the isle of Skye. Wrong! A great combination of the natural and human activities. Red roofs always fit in well for a shot like this.
cheers

Hello Andrew,
You have really captured the character of this wild and beautiful place. The light is sweeping across the hilside, irregularly illuminating the surfaces.
I like how you have included the farmhouse which adds a spot of colour, a strong starting point but, more importantly, relates the sense of scale.
There is just enough sky to outline the craggy peaks and emphasise the light .
A shot to be proud of!
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello Andrew,
There is a lot to like in this photo. The scenery is breathtaking, as seems to be the rule almost anywhere on Iceland. You have given the composition an attractive diagonal accent and captured a very nice play of shadows and light. I also like the contrasts of grey and green areas, but the most stunning element is the lonely farmyard near the corner. It shows the vast emptiness of the island, where a lot of people seem to live miles away from their nearest neighbours.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Andrew
This tranquil scene provides a very peaceful mind for those to enjoy the transient of quiet and free with no boundaries. The mountain view in the background along with the humble chalet, natural greens, luscious colours and the combination is totally irresistible. Very gentle and precise.. just had to be photographed!! My compliments
PS: Huge tx to your useful suggestions- points noted with much appreciation
Best wishes

Hello Andrew,
The farmhouse is ideally placed in the frame and makes a good counterpoint to the pinnacle of rock on top of the ridge. All in all, a beautiful well balanced composition. Perfectly exposed with pleasant natural colours and very good sharpness.

Hello, Andrew!
The house, perfectly positioned, is an excellent scale to this magnificent view of the landscape with imposing mountains in the background! The light is very good, which gives beautiful colors to the scene! Sharpness is also great! Wonderful place and composition! Well done!

Bonjour Andrew,
Elle doit se sentir bien petite cette maison dans ce paysage qui semble l'écraser sous son poids.J'aime le point de vue ainsi que la position de la maison dans le cadre.
Amicalement

Hello Andrew,
It must be strange to live so far from everything with the infinity that surrounds you.
On pictures the landscapes look awesome but I wonder what impact the absence of a social life has on the residents.
The slope has a wonderful green colour that we also find back on the upper side of the rocks.
Best regards, Paul

Hello ANdrew
Lovely picture of small human presence in such a big, impressive natural environment. The house is well placed in the composition, allowing nature to take center stage.
Cheers

Hi Andrew,
That old shed looks so tiny in this landscape. Rough Icelandic nature well presented with green field and stony mountain slope. Half cloudy light is lovely.

Hello Andrew, imagine living in that farm house with the mountain side so close to you?
A fabulous composition. The farm provides us with the best idea of scale.
The light is beautiful, with the clouds' shadows creating varying tones of green.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.
