Photographer's Note
This was taken a late winter afternoon after sunset (4 pm) with low shutter speed and in a not so stable position : the subject chose to be on top of a car roof so I stood on the hood with the one foot on the front corner of the roof, trying not to shake.
The frost was almost 1 cm thick and covered more than a square meter. Never have I seen such before or after.

Bonjour et bienvenue sur TrekEarth Aurélien!
Such a wonderful peace of nature!
Stunning pattern made by the ice, it looks just like a rich silky dress of some iceprinces or an antique heavy "royal blue" velvet fabric.
You chose the perfect framing to reveal the complicated relief and texture. Thank you for sharing it with us...

What a beautiful photo and an extraordinary subject. A great capture, from the sound of it very tricky too. And low shutter speed, no tripod! I particularly like the light centre fading out darker towards the edges. Welcome to TE!

Stunning abstract, Aurelien. I love the rich color and fine details. To me it seems like many "eyes" looking around. Welcome!

Aurelien,
Wonderful. It combines a beauty that is both common (there is frost in so many places), with a beauty that is unique (there is no other frost exactly like this one, and of course this one is more extreme than most). A very good example of something quotidian raised to the level of art.
The pattern itself is compelling, and for quite a while it reminded me of something but I couldn't figure out what. Then I realized it was the memory of the stunning fabrics and wallpapers designed by William Morris, who brought a true artists touch to items that were normally considered the realm of "mere" craftsmen.
Well seen, and I'm glad you went to all that trouble to get it!

That is some beautiful frost. It is piculuar that it was on top of a car- and so much of it. I'm really not ready for winter, but your picture reminds me that its coming- I guess I won't mind the change if it brings this kind of great photo opportunities. Nice work!

Hi Aurelien, Wonderful to see this art designed by nature and captured here to see. That blue and white is very pleasant to see. Great piece of creativity and generosity to show TL. TFS. Murray.
