Blönduóskirkja - yngri (1993)

Blönduós is a small town and municipality in the north of Iceland with a population of ca. 895.
The most striking building of the place is undoubtedly the new Blönduóskirkja from 1993.
A beautifully harmonious design by the Icelandic architect Maggi Jónsson. She was inspired by the atmosphere of the mountains and the landscape in the area. Unfortunately we could not control this because of the grey weather. But in my opinion she undoubtedly succeeded very well.
From whatever direction you look at the building, you always see other forms that are harmoniously united. Curved and straight surfaces of dark grey concrete interrupted by the openings for windows, doors and skylights make it a fascinating spatial design.
