Photographer's Note

One more picture on my series about Leirhnjúkur lava field. So here is the Leirhnjúkur crater where the lava flew in 1984. Today the lava has cooled down and gave birth to this incredible scenery where you can walk today. The 1984 eruption was the end of a period of seismic and volcanic activity that lasted 9 years from 1975 to 1984. This period is know as "Krafla fires".
