Photographer's Note

After the first night we stayed in Stöng farm, we began a new day of discovering of Iceland marvels and first stopped at Dettifoss. This waterfall is situated on the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river which flows from the huge Vatnajökull glacier and collects water from a large area in Northeast Iceland. The waterfall is 44 metres height and 100 metres width. It is no doubt one of the most spectaculara waterfall in Iceland. It is reputed to be the most powerful in Europe. It is easy to drive to the waterfall : two road, F862 and F864, start from the road 1 and lead to the waterfall, and you can drive on them with a standard berline vehicle (this is not always the case in Iceland !).

The light conditions were bad when I took this picture since there was some fog along the river. But I had no choice ... I used a ND400 filter to make a 6 seconds exposure. If you want to have a sense of scale, you can see one of the friends I traveled with in the bottom of the picture. And yes, there is a ghost not farm from him too ...
