Photographer's Note

Here is Möðrudalur farm and its church in icelandic way, red and white ! The farm is settled in a green oasis in the middle of a rocky and desert plateau in the north of the huge Vatnajökull glacier. We stayed one night there and enjoyed this hostile place but with such a beautiful scenery. The farm is still active (we spoke a little with a young shepherd who stayed there all the winter long, totally away from any civilization, to keep the sheeps), but tourism is now a important income for the farm. Möðrudalur is one of the very few inhabited place in this area of Iceland. And it is not too far from the Road 1, so it makes a good stop for travelers who want to stay one night in the area.

I took this picture after we had dinner, at about 11pm. It was very cold and I was one of the only one in our group who didn't scare to go out. But it worthed it, doesn't it ? Probably the most beautiful sunset sky we had on our travel in Iceland !
