Photographer's Note

Lake Balaton is Hungary's biggest lake (surface is 590 m2). Average depth is 3-4 meters, but deepest point is at 11,5 meters. Very popular destination for domestic and foreign tourists, too.

I spent 4 days at the village of Balatongyörök to capture different aspects of this city for their new brochure. On this day woke up early to photograph sunrise. After long days of dead calm, it was very windy this morning - of course surfers went out to enjoy theirselves. Perfect subject for a photographer...

technical details:
Beside the equipment defined I put on a Sigma 1.4EX APO Teleconverter to increase the focal length. Overall the focal lenght was: 300mm (by the lens) + 120mm (by 1.4TC) + 210mm (*1.5 by the DSLR) = 630mm @ F:4. Body was set to Mode A (Aperture priority), shutter speed was set by the camera. I didn't set any exposure compensation. I set another important setting: changed from natural to vivid, to enhance the colors of the sail and the reflecting sunrays.
Regardless the resizing, USM and framing no changes were made to the picture - original crop, contrast etc. right out of the fireplace :)
