Photographer's Note

This is the view from the dome of the St. Stephen's Basilica looking North. The green roofed building in the foreground is the former Hungarian Royal Postal Savings Bank building, now the home of the Hungarian State Treasury. It was built 1901 in Hungarian secessionist style by Ödön Lechner and Sándor Baumgarten. Those colorful tiles on the roof are a type of ornamental ceramics that were developed by Zsolnay factory and placed in production by 1886. They are also used on several other famous building in Budapest, such the Matthias Church, Museum of Applied Arts.
