Photographer's Note
This sculpture is in the garden of the Bartók Memorial House in Budapest. Béla Bartók (1881 – 1945) was a Hungarian composer and pianist, and he was one of the founders of comparative musicology, which later became ethnomusicology. The sculpture is the work of Imre VARGA (b. 1923), Hungarian sculptor, who is regarded as one of Hungary's most important living artists. The statue was erected on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Béla Bartók. Copies of this statue also stands in Mako,(the closest Hungarian city to his birth place which is now in Romania), Paris, London and Toronto.
