Pyli bridge, a photo from Trikala, Thessaly

Photographer's Note

One more for my Bridges of Greece theme. This one is Pyli bridge, located about 1,5 km after Pyli town right beside the road that goes from Pyli to Elati. It was constructed on 1514 by St. Visarion and connects the banks of Portaikos river and two mountains, Itamos and Koziakas. It is 20 km far from Trikala city and until 1936 it was the only passage between the mountainous villages of Aspropotamos region and the plains of Trikala.

Its arch has a width of 28,20 m., its height is 13,30 m and its total length is 65 m.

Hi Hercules,
Fine wide-angle composition. My initial reaction was a tighter view showing less of the path on the right to put more emphasis on the bridge. But I see your point in including the trees on each side. A few people sitting on the bench wouldn't hurt. Depth and colors are very good, the latter being a bit too warm for my taste. Cropping the out of focus portion of the tree on the left edge and the blown-out top is an option. Regards,

Hi Hercules,
it seems a very nice place! Wonderful colors and composition, with the tree on the left and the line of picket fence that guides to the bridge!
Is a typical medieval bridge that in Italian is called "a schiena d'asino" (donkey's back)...
This is a typical view also here in Italy!

Τελικά πρέπει να είναι πολύ όμορφο αυτό το μέρος και μέχρι τώρα δεν έχω καταφέρει να το επισκεφτώ. Σίγουρα η φωτογραφία σου το αναδεικνύει ακόμα περισσότερο, με το υπέροχο καδρο και τα πανέμορφα χρώματα. Πολύ καλή δουλειά!

Esta foto me recuerda a una que tomé hace unos dos meses en Burgos... creo que haré un esfuerzo por recuperarla.

El ambiente que inunda toda la foto es muy otoñal. Y esa alfombra de hojas resalta mucho este ambiente.

This bridge really surrounding by nice nature colours, i really like it especially the different colours between fg and bg. And i agree with Giorgios maybe better crop out abit pale sky on the top. A nice picture indeed, Hercules. tfs

en primer lugar, te deseo mucha suerte en tu nueva etapa profesional, y aunque te entristezca haber acabado otra fase muy rica para tí, piensa que comienzas otra, totalmente abierta al futuro. Como decía Serrat "Hoy puede ser un gran día".
Y sobre la foto, decir que emana toda tu maestría en mostrarnos lugares y rincones preciosos, siempre con una gran calidad de luz, imagen y colores, con encuadres bien escogidos y muy equilibrados, y en este caso, con la belleza del puente rodeado de los tonos de otoño.

Hola Hércules, idílico lugar donde perderse durante unas horas a disfrutar de la naturaleza...

Nos presentas un encuadre muy atractivo, siguiendo la curva del cercado de madera hasta encontrarnos con el puente de piedra, gran ojo fotográfico!!
La luz suave y cálida y la atmósfera de tranquilidad y bienestar dan un carácter único a la fotografía. Placenteros colores, un hermoso sitio a descubrir!

This is a very good point of view, including this much of the setting but still keeping the bridge the main subject!
I'm impressed by the trees you use for framing, they are probably twice as old as the bridge, hehehe...
