Photographer's Note

The marvelous beach in Matala on the south Cretan seaside.. The Lybian Sea hits the great stony walls with great force of waves.. The caves seen in the foreground were used as tombs in the Roman times.. then in the 1960's they were homes for Flower Children. When Creta was becoming more and more turistic attraction the Hippies were removed from the caves and the whole area was closed. Now you can get in there during the day and have a great view of the whole Matala, the shoreline and the Lybian Sea far away to the horizon..
