Syntagma Square, a photo from Attiki, Attica

Photographer's Note

This is my third photo from the Syntagma Square (Constitution Square) on TrekEarth. Syntagma is a central square in Athens. The building which you see behind the fountain is the Old Royal Palace which houses now the Greek Parliament. At the base of the Parliament Building there is a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at which every hour you can watch the attractively choreographed change of the guards. This is my photo from that ceremony:

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier itself is not visible from this angle, it hides behind the staircase as this point of view is in fact very low. If you look at the top of the stairs you can find there vases with plants. That is the place where I took this photo:

In the place where I stand taking this photo, behind my back starts pedestrianized Ermou Street, which is probably one of the best shopping streets in Athens. If you follow that street you will pass the Kapnikarea church which stands in the middle of the promenade and which I showed you before here:

Hi Mariusz,this is the most famous square of Athens in the last years, i saw many times this place during the long protests against the governement during the economic crisis. The perspective is very rich and nice,with a perfect view of fountains and the parliament in background,great sharpness as usual!Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

We see clear the big fountain.
Pleasant panorama view too with the visitors in background.
The building with brickwork and almost blue sky.

Hello Mariusz,
Difficult, in fact impossible, to hide the part of the parliament building that is now under restoration and behind a canvas. Yet this is not disturbing in this photo.
In terms of colour, that canvas matches the hues of the parliament building quite well. Even the fountain wall in the foreground has a fitting colour.
Beautiful light and blue-pink combination.
The different water jets create an attractive foreground.
Excellent sharpness, composition and depth.

Hello Mariusz,
A well-known part of Athens and you present it here in an excellent composition. I like to see the old palace and this fountain together. The light was perfect, very clear and bright and it highlighted the warm tones of the building very well.

Sloneczna jesien a woda w fontannie fajnie zamrozona. Powinien byc jeszcze w opcjach TE taki ludzik googlowski, albo po kliknieciu na fragment zdjecia przejscie do widoku z tamtego miejsca;) chyba jednak sobie z tym nie poradza administratorzy skoro mapa swiata ich przerasta. Dobry kadr i swietna jakosc jak zwykle.

Hello Mariusz,

This is a richly gushing fountain and makes a good focal point, well placed off-centre, allowing us to appreciate the steps and the fine details of the Greek Parliament building.
Your photograph shows the features in sunshine, yet the people in shadows. Just a quirk of the setting but I really like how the figures add to the atmosphere, without taking any attention from your intended main features.

Yes, this was the fountain I was thinking of. Good colour and sharpness with punchy light contrasts & a great exposure on the bright highlights of the water. Tfs!

This view of Syntagma is wonderful, not for the Covid, this fountain would be full of people sitting on its edge, beautiful as we see it in the foreground, with the Parliament building a very well chosen POV.
Sharpness, lighting, color and magnificent composition; all are perfectly realized factors in this beautiful image.

P.S. You will see beautiful fountains in the garden, but I like to alter different themes, depending on what I have from the trip.
