Photographer's Note
Panathenaic Stadium (in this photo) is an extraordinary structure but again I found that Wikipedia made a great job listing a lot of interesting facts about it so I am going to copy and paste it here:
The Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro (Καλλιμάρμαρο, lit. "beautiful marble") is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. One of the main historic attractions of Athens, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble.
A stadium was built on the site of a simple racecourse by the Athenian statesman Lykourgos (Lycurgus) c. 330 BC, primarily for the Panathenaic Games. It was rebuilt in marble by Herodes Atticus, an Athenian Roman senator, by 144 AD and had a capacity of 50,000 seats. After the rise of Christianity in the 4th century it was largely abandoned. The stadium was excavated in 1869 and hosted the Zappas Olympics in 1870 and 1875. After being refurbished, it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympics in 1896 and was the venue for 4 of the 9 contested sports. It was used for various purposes in the 20th century and was once again used as an Olympic venue in 2004. It is the finishing point for the annual Athens Classic Marathon. It is also the last venue in Greece from where the Olympic flame handover ceremony to the host nation takes place.

Hello Mariusz,
A fantastic photo of this ancient stadium. I really like the symmetry of the place and the patterns of the long stands on both sides, which also created a really nice play of light and shadow in that sunny day.

Hi Mariusz, many structures have been abandoned to their fate after their construction for the 2004 Olympics. Fortunately not for this one, obviously an important historical page which benefited from an excellent cleaning and restoration. Great perspective, it's always hard to find a good POV in situations like this and you did the best of it. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Mariusz,
Wonderful classic stadium! It is just amazing it was made of marble. The actual arena is obviously rebuilt, so that it still can be used in sports events. Symmetric viewpoint works well.

Hi Mariusz
now this is too funny, I remember this stadium so well, I took a bus here myself a few years ago. Because of Covid, its empty, when I was here there were children playing, school trips with children, lots of tourists. Interesting to see it so empty, and I got the EXACT same pov too. sweet wide angle shot. cheers

Swietna kompozycja tego starozytnego stadionu. Notka z wiki faktycznie skrotowo wszystko objasnia.
Miejsce oprocz sportowego ma tez potencjal fotograficzny na niebanalne kadry.
Ciekawa prezentacja
pozdrawiam

Hello Mariusz,
If you wanted to experience the majesty of an ancient stadium, you cannot do better than this! You can imagine the chariots from Ben Hur careering dangerously around this arena, cheered anxiously by an enthusiastic crowd!
It's massive, it's astonishing, it's a wonderful link to the past, sharply captured for us all to enjoy.
I have been to Olympia, where the Olympic flame is kept and have run (with no great speed) along the 100 metres sprint course, which was quite an experience!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
I suppose you've tried multiple viewpoints here and this seems like the best place possible.
Both to show as much of the stadium as possible, but also taking into account the position of the sun and the shadows obtained which complement the patterns on the field in the center beautifully.
Best regards, Paul

mariusz
you choose a nice angle and created a special perspective enhancing the beauty of this monument. I hadn't courage to enter, I was running to see more and more places and I guessed it was enough the view I had from the street..
take care

Hello Mariusz,
Apart from a few lichens and a bit of dirt, (easily removed) this ancient amphitheatre is in perfect condition, unlike many I have seen in Turkey, with cracked and earthquake damaged seating. Tfs!
