Photographer's Note
“A for Athens” is the name of the bar which offers this view from its rooftop terrace. We stopped there to enjoy a freshly squeezed orange juice and the view of course. It is one of the best viewpoints in town, you see here the Acropolis Hill with one of the most popular squares in town, Monastiraki. It is exactly north of Acropolis so I think the best light would be there in the evening. I was there shortly after noon, so the light was a bit harsh. When we were sitting at the table, suddenly we felt something strange as if we were sitting on a swing, the floor was moving back and forth for few moments. We first thought that this was due to the underground station, but the feeling was quite intense. A moment later we heard the news about the 6.7 earthquake near the Samos Island.
More info about the earthquake:

Hello Mariusz,
A beautiful view of the city here. The square makes a good foreground and it is nicely surrounded by many appealing buildings in several colours, in particular that old church on the left hand side. The narrowing end of the square on the opposite side points nicely towards the Acropolis. Fine lighting too. That earthquake must have been a strange experience though.

Hello Mariusz,
It's a well composed and perfectly sharp photo with interesting features in every corner. You were lucky not to be on the Turkish side where the earthquake was felt much stronger.

Gert

Hello Mariusz,
Certainly a viewpoint to remember if I ever get to Athens again.
Only the modern building at the far left at the back does not look that nice. For the rest, this city panorama shows only beautiful constructions, including some real highlights of the city trip.
Also a wonderful combination of different architectural styles from various cultures.
Beautiful light and attractive colours.
I did not know the earthquake was felt as far as Athens.
I remember experiencing an earthquake while sitting at a restaurant in Northern Chile. I didn't realise it was an earthquake and thought a car had hit the outside wall of the restaurant. While several people ran out, I just continued eating. Then someone came from the kitchen to tell me that I stayed very calm considering the situation. Only then did I realised what had happened and felt very, very stupid.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz, a great view from the rooftop terrace.
It is lovely to see the wide variety of buildings, with the distant view of the Acropolis on the horizon.
Excellent sharp quality. You managed the noon day sunshine extremely well imo.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Mariusz, this bartender colleague of mine is very lucky to have such a view from his restaurant. And you too have lived a unique experience, experiencing the earthquake without having consequences. Another great view of Athens with the Acropolis in the background, perhaps a little oversharp. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Czesc Mariusz!
I have been to Samos Island and Ismir, as well as Chios. All 3 were shaken around quite badly this year. I hope the ruins at Ephesus stood up to the shaking. The only earthquake I ever experienced was in north Italy in Padova, built on an alluvial floodplain close to Venice, in October 2016. No earthquakes occurred in Japan, China, Indonesia, Nepal, California, Philipines, New Zealand or Turkey when I was there, although I was in mid flight from Erzurum to Ankara and Istanbul after 5 months in Erzurum with no shakes whatsoever. When I got to my hotel, friends in Erzurum said they had had a 5.5 tremblor when I was in the air. Bottles knocked over, windows rattling and their cat in a state of panic. I think I went to this same restaurant at night. They have expensive imported beers, but the view makes it worth the 'surcharge'. Tfs!

Marveloua view from the high point over the closer Pangaia squre towards the Acropolis on the far side, Mariusz.
Favorable light and clear air / no mist enable this vivid picture from Athena.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
Gosh, this must have been scary; the choices never cease to be horrific, Covid or an earthquake!!
This was a very well chosen viewpoint.
You have fine, natural lines from the f/g, guiding over the housetops to the iconic, plateau of the Acropolis. Considering your aspect, the light is very well handled, giving very pleasing colours. You were right to crop most of the sky.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Mariusz, that terrace offers a stunning view of this historical district in Athens. The acropolis sticks out majestically on a hill in the background. A mix of modern and very old buildings is found around this popular square. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

I walked in this area too, but I don't stay in a cafe here. a nice general view with the Parthenon ahead and the old mosque included. an earthquake is an amazing experience, fortunately it was only a souvenir for you. earthquakes are very rare in brazil too, once we had one near from here, some people felt it, others not.
here many people in the streets because tomorrow will be municipal elections. many fireworks, flags and cars.. covid love this...
take care

Hello Mariusz,
A worthy composition portraying Athens from a spectacular POV, which I would like to visit when this COVID nightmare ends. I like the tiny details, like the church and the lines on the pavement of the square leading my eyes towards the distance.
Best Wishes,
Gy.
PS: Thank you for your kind words on my photo!

Hello Mariusz.
Wow .... impressive this view with the Monastiraki square in the first place and a nice view of part of the city, with the Acropolis in the background, what a pity I did not see that cafe when I was in Athens even though we had the hotel nearby , in Plaka.
Point of view, sharpness, lightness, color and the chosen composition are excellent.
A very beautiful photo. I like.
Have a good weekend.
Best regards.
Luis.
P.S. From Madrid there are beautiful day trips such as Aranjuez, my city now Alcala, the royal palace of La Granja, Segovia and the Riofrio Palace.
