Photographer's Note

I had planned to post another photo but something extraordinary happened yesterday afternoon and I had to tell you.

Two fishing boats found, dragged and brought out of the sea a very large anchor that had been lying at the bottom of the sea for centuries, probably. It is nearly three metres long and covered with material from the sea, there's even a sponge attached on it. People say it must have belonged to a pirate ship, there were so many around the islands in the past.

The fishing boats brought it to the port of Ayia Marina and left it there, quite a few people gathered to see it. A few minutes after the anchor was placed on the wharf, everyone was gone, except, of course, the anglers. I guess incidents like this are not so rare in the Aegean Sea.

I have a wide picture and a detail of the anchor in the WORKSHOP.

Thank you for visiting
