Photographer's Note

I was in Syros island. Really I was looking for a place called Ano Syros.

The chora of Ano Syros is beautiful and in the top of the hill there is a catholic monastery. Walking around the streets of Ano Syros I found this cat. Really there were a few of them and suddenly appeared the owner.
She was an old and proud greek woman who speaked to me in Greek (I said to her I couldn't understand her, but she did it).

She talked about the Catholic monastery but I was amazed by the cats. To take pictures of the cat I moved forward the cat slowly and each step I made a picture. I wanted to be close the cat, but I knew the cat would ran away. So I had to take pictures each step.

Finally this was one of the best pictures I made of the cat.

mira los gatos no me gustan nada, me dan miedo... pero he de reconocer que aquí has captado muy bien la mirada que echa el bicho ese. Los colores de cine, y es una muy buena postal del lugar.

aquests gats de les illes gregues són molt fotogènics, i posen de meravella per als fotògrafs.
M'agrada com has focalitzat directament sobre el gat per centrar la nostra atenció, i com es destaca al deixar la resta de la imatge fora de focus.
La llum i els colors suaus estan molt ben tractats.

ahhhhh - I love cats, I love them all :)
mine are outside in the garden now, hunting for mice...
Greece is full of wonderful cats, so much so that sometimes I thought they were put there by the Ministry of Tourism :)
jokes aside, I like the moment you caught here, the look in the cat's eyes, concentrated on something... its creamy fur is perfect against the whitewashed walls.
but what's in the upper left corner? another cat?

Las fotos con gatas te salen tremendas, tienes un tipo de comunicacion con ellas, me acuerdo muy bien otra foto en Folegandros (?). Gran composicion y encuadre, gran enfoque y campo de profundidad, muy buen manejo de la luz, preciosos colores!

Hola Carlos, I'm a cat lover so I think this portrait is adorable. Nice close approach, splendid white framing with a 'window' in the background showing a bit of their colorful life. I bet this is a paradise for cats...

All these cats must be happy of living in a so pretty village which we can see in WS. I adore the cats, then this photograph cannot leave me insensitive, the more so as this one with an expression which I like much. Good framing in the environment emphasizing it well, I see that his/her buddy is not far!!! Thank you.

Ah Greece, what an amazing country. The white walls, the blue tones, the people. I always keep great memories about this country.
I like cats too, their expression, their motion.
Its colours are complementary to the house tones.
