Photographer's Note

All boats are special but this one has a special significance and mission. It belongs to Diving Centre Hydrovius which keeps its facilities in Crithoni, gives diving lessons and guides visitors to the marvels of the seabed around the island.

The people who run Hydrovius have collaborated with researchers and authors in the exploration of a seabed rich in historical interest due to the WW2 relics that lie in its silent landscapes.

It has also worked with a group of scientists from the University of Patras who have been creating a chart of this seabed, using a sonar method. The work should have been finished by now, making Leros the first Greek island with a completely explored and mapped seabed. They're stuck at the 80% because of luck of funds.

For additional information:

In the distance we see Mt Kleidi and the district of Alinda.

Thank you for visiting, a lovely weekend to all
