Photographer's Note

I don't know whether this cat is somebody's pet, it looks well fed but this could be thanks to the fishing restaurant a couple of metres from where I was standing or at the quay of Ayia Marina less than 30m way. The fishermen always give treats to the harbour cats.

As I was walking away from the ATM machine, I noticed a lovely light on a blue gate at the end of a very short passageway. I tried to find a good composition and to deal with the shadows and then the cat appeared. It jumped on the fence and looked at me over its shoulder. It would have been a nice photo, that I could probably post only on Facebook, but by the time I got my settings ready, the cat had disappeared through the railing. I was disappointed and thought to see if I could make anything of just the railing. Then I saw that the curious cat had returned and settled on the step. It didn't move for a couple of minutes and so I happily included it in my frame.

Cats often appear in postcards from the alleys of the Greek islands and only yesterday I was writing Maria (nikkita) about the typical colours of our coastal villages.

Thank you for visiting
