Photographer's Note

Maybe I don't need to write a note about this place anymore, it must have become quite familiar. For new members and visitors, this is the harbour of Ayia Marina on a splendid winter afternoon.

I had been taking pictures like this for a while that afternoon and could see people gathered next to the boats and hear their loud voices. I thought that they were having a quarrel and decided to stay away. When the crowd scattered, someone came over and told me they had been trying to carry out of the boat the old anchor they had found in the sea (see my previous posting and the WORKSHOP).

My friend Simela found on the internet a very similar anchor that was raised from pirate Blackbeard's wrecked flagship Queen Anne's Revenge in 2011. Blackbeard's ship had been lying at the bottom of Beaufort Inlet, Carolina for almost 300 years. (

Thank you for visiting
