Photographer's Note

Over the recent years, the Diaconese Island of Kalymnos has become a major rockclimbing paradise in Europe and has manifested its place among the top 10 European sportclimbing locations.

This relatively small island with about 10000 inhabitants has more than 850 well cared-for and described routes to offer, and each year more are developed. Some sectors are very interesting for taking pictures, especially in the evening when the sky turns red or deep purple and you can climb close to the ocean. My favourite sectors for photos are: Kasteli, Palace and Grande Grotta. This picture was taken in the Palace sector and it needed some climbing to get to the POV.

Access is through the neighboring Island of Kos, to be reached f.e. by SwissAir (Zurich), TUIfly, Ryanair (Hahn, Milan) or Olympos (Athen) or by boat from Bodrum (Turkey) or Rhodes.
