Photographer's Note

The Meteora (Greek: Μετέωρα, "levitating") are monasteries in north-east Greece on the edge of the Pindus Mountains, built on spectacular natural rock pillars. The whole area is a World Heritage site. It's awesome beauty is impossible to describe and the cultural heritage goes back centuries. No one really knows when the tops of these rocks were first inhabited. Now a number of monasteries still cling to the shear vertical cliffs rising out of the flat ground. For more information refer http://www.kalampaka.com/en/meteora/monasteries.asp
