Photographer's Note

..seems to be the silent cry of the small workers' house next to the west tip of the north wing of Iviron monastery. The north wing of the monastery was very recently restored, while the small outbuilding waits patiently for its turn for the much needed repairs. It may take a while though since Iviron is a rather large monastery and much of it hasn't been restored yet. The monks could not afford to restore the whole monastery in one go, even with help from E.U. funds.

You can see how this exact part of the monastery looked before the restoration, in this older photo by a TrekEarth member:

Iviron monastery was build in the 10th century, and is the 3rd largest of the 20 orthodox monasteries in the monastic state of Mount Athos (Agion Oros) in Greece.
