Photographer's Note
A wonderful sight on Zakynthos, which has made the rounds of the island through postcards that represent it on every occasion, is the Navayio (Shipwreck, of a boat that transported illegal cigarettes, on its west side. Vertical rocks towering over a rusty shipwreck abandoned in the middle of the beach with the blue Ionian sea in the background stimulate the imagination and create images from times long past.
History Notes:
Ζάκυνθος, the third largest of the Ionian Islands, covers an area of 410 square kilometers and its coastline is roughly 123 kilometers in length. The island is named after Zacynthus, son of a legendary Arcadian chief Dardanus. The name, like all similar names ending in -nthos, is pre-Mycenaean or Pelasgian in origin.
Zakynthos was inhabited from the Neolithic Age, as some archaeological excavations have proved.
The famous ancient Greek poet and writer, Homer, first mentioned the island in his masterpieces, the Iliad and the Odyssey, stating that the first inhabitants of it were the son of King Dardanos of Troy called Zakynthos and his men and that they first came on the island around 1500-1600 BC.
The island was then conquered by the King Arkeisios of Kefalonia. The famous Ulysses (Odysseus in Greek) from Ithaca was the next King to conquer the island.
Later on, a treaty was signed that made Zakynthos an independent democracy, the first established in the Hellenic area, and that lasted more than 650 years.

Wow !
This picture is a dream ...
With a bit of brightness less it could be better.

Hello John
What an excellent view, great use of the setting with the azure blue sea.
Looks to me like you were very close to edge, how far up is this approx.?
The composition works well, but had I had the option I would have made a slightly closer zoom or simply a crop on the wreck on the beach.

Hi John,
Lovely shot, very familiair place for me ;) I've seen and shot the same thing. Nice compo, to me it was good to include the cliff on the left, also the vegetation on it, that's what I also liked about the scene. The shipwreck slightly hidden behind the cliff, nice. Sharpness is fine, details on the cliffs behind are top.
I don't know about the contrast man, it seems as if it's raised really far, the cliffs are, to me, way to dark, as I remember them being bright, almost white. But the sea, rock in front and beach are quite bright, so it seems the contrast is high. Some more brightness would to well though.
Nevertheless I like your version of this great place too, well done.
Have a look at my version(s) to if you like..
And this one.
Thanks for sharing your view!

You have a nice vintage point to take this shot. The water looks beautiful in its emerald blue color, and the cilff is equally striking.
