Photographer's Note

This is the beach at Zakynthos off the west coast of Greece, often depicted from the cliffs showing the old shipwreck. The MV Panagiotis ran aground at this beach in October, 1980. Navagio Beach is sometimes called Smuggler's Cove or Shipwreck Beach, because of rumours that the ship was smuggling contraband such as cigarettes, wine and women! I was lucky to strike a day when crowds were moderate. 2 weeks before in mid August, there were 17,000 people crammed on to this tiny beach. More information here:
