Photographer's Note

The site is the Achellion Palace on the Island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea. At least half-a-dozen times in the past I had visited the Greek Island. It was on my last visit in October 2013, that I had my first opportunity to visit the Achellion Palace, built in 1888 by Elisabeth of Bavaria, the Empress of Austria. The palace was designed by the Italian architect Raffaele Caritto and built on a 200,000 meter-square site, owned by Elizabeth and her husband, Emperor Josef.

During the last week of December 2013 I posted a photo of "The Dying Achilles", a statue just 10 m behind me as I shot this scene.

Early in the morning the thick fog that had enshrouded the valley was beginning to evaporate.
