Synchrony, a photo from Kerkyra, Ionian Islands

Photographer's Note

These two little girls appear to be about to dive synchronously from the little jetty. In reality they were in the process of crouching low over the water and exploring with their hands for something I could not see in the water.
This is the small fishing harbour of Petriti on Corfu's South West coast. As you can see it is also a harbour for yachts too. The few tavernas nearby make much of their living from the visits of holiday flotillas of yachts. But Petriti's more interesting aspect is its fishing activities, but more about this another time.
N.B. My post processing was a simple crop that straightened the horizon and levels adjusted using Photoshop Elements.

nice the view of this sectin of the little jetty with the girls to play carefree during the sunset.I like the pinky atmosphere as the created reflections on the calmly surface of marina.

Hi Bev,
The little girls in unison make a great focal point for the scene, but even aside from that the whole scene has such rich and pleasing colours. I love that you captured the reflects of that fascinating sky so well in the water. Th boats make a great backdrop.

a nice composition. Full with life. Like the framing with the boats at middle with the colourful presence of those girls, while the background there are some mountains which creates a nice soft contrast with this scene. Excellent one. Tfs.

A n interesting note and a fantastic picture! And a real "decisive moment" too. But somehow I just can't work out why you categorised this picture under "castles"!

Your composition is lovely and the two girls stand out well against a background of white boats as well as water and sky which have the most delightful soft blues and pinks. Perfect exposure in the rather low evening light and exquisite details and sharpness - amazing as this one was taken at 1/20 second! You must have a very steady hand!

Hi Bev,
A very beautiful and attractive light here, with fantastic colours. The jetty is well placed and the two girls add the necessary life to the scene. The repetition of boats is also an important part here.

this is a beautiful summer picture, a very effective capture of another aspect of summer, the quiet and romantic evenings. I like very much the panoramic frame and the way you cropped it to include only the most delicious and consistent colours the last rays of the sun have painted. The perspective of the jetty, the boats, the texture, reflections and colours on the calm sea, all are wonderful finds that you have captured and combined superbly. The little girls are so natural, with their hair still wet from a shower after a day at sea, they can't stay away from it. A very evocative summer picture, in my opinion.
