Photographer's Note

I have showed you already an overview of the Balos Beach, one of the best if not the best beach on Crete. Across the bay, north from the Balos Beach there are two small islands, the closest one being Imeri Gramvousa. In addition to a wonderful beach, it hosts also ruins of an ancient Venetian Fort, from which you can admire spectacular views over the area. This photo was taken from an agave grove further away from the beach towards the Balos Beach which would be at the bottom of the mountain which you see in the distance.
Balos Beach itself is actually accessible by car, but it is unpaved and dangerous so insurance companies or car recovery companies declare they are not covering it at all. The most convenient way to reach Balos Beach is a boat tour which leaves you for 3 hours on the Balos Beach but also takes you for 1.5 hour to Imeri Gramvousa.

This is the 999th photo which I upload to TrekEarth. Hard to decide what should be the 1000th!
