Photographer's Note

A juniper log, washed ashore on a beach in Gavdos - a small island ca.30km south of Crete and the southernmost point of Europe. The island is dominated by a vegetation of mediterranean shrubs and wide sandy beaches with forests of Phoenicean Juniper. The island is popular with young people who sometimes stay the whole summer on one of the remote beaches, either in tents or in small shelters build of driftwood, thus forming little summer communities.
