Photographer's Note

I happened upon this church somewhere in western Crete during one of my many visits to the island. It is built into the side of a mountain and is very small, about 2x2 meters. It is typical of small churches, many of which are built in small caves or recesses of mountains. I like this shot becuase of the interior's simplicity and it is a church that the vast majority of visitors do not see. Nor is its layout like that of 'proper' Greek Orthodox churches.

I wish I had had some super-wide lens (something around 12-18mm) to capture a wider angle or even remote flash unit to play with the lighting my sincere apologies as I was not carrying my full kit. Simply simple. Enjoy.
