Photographer's Note

Bürresheim Castle is located on top of a ridge,northwest of the town Mayen,
It is one of the rare examples, which shows its development from the medieval fortress into a Baroque living castle so clearly.

Furthermore the original preserved furnishing of Bürresheim Castle shows visitors the style of living of the Rhenish nobility continuously from the 15th until the 20th century.

A visit of Bürresheim Castle is also worth from another point of view: It is a castle, which had never been destroyed by any wars. Therefore it is a rare example of a medieval living castle, which was inhabited until 1921.

Bürresheim Castle got its name from the homonymous family, who had been the owners of the previous Bürresheim Castle in the 14th century. In the same century several noble families as well as the archbishops of Trier and Cologne shared the castle after the Bürresheim Family had died out.

A fine composition of this very impressive castle that clearly sets it in context; the vertical format is well chosen. The topiary bushes in the foreground make a splendid and unusual set of lead lines. The image is well lit and has very good colours and sharpness.

Μια ωραία σύνθεση ! το πολύ εντυπωσιακό κάστρο σε άριστη θέση στο πλαίσιο με την κάθετη μορφή . Οι κήποι στο πρώτο επίπεδο κάνουν ένα υπέροχο και ασυνήθιστο σύνολο! Η εικόνα ποιοτική σε λεπτή λεπτομερεια είναι καλά φωτισμένη και έχει πολύ καλή χρώματα και ευκρίνεια.

La photo et la note explicative sont très explicites sur l'histoire de cette architecture. Peu de châteaux peuvent se vanter d'avoir traversé les siècles sans dommage comme celui-ci.

Wonderful capture in good lighting and colors, is picking out the detail of the castle superbly and ideally situated in the frame. Beautiful and unique architecture, the fine detail and textures is mesmerising. It looks really deep in nice colors, subtle light and soft shadows and attractive blue sky too. Excellent presentation of this beautiful castle. The POV is particulary well selcetd with the large and very graphic FG which give depht and leran the glance to the castle which arise in the BG. A blue sky and a pleasant contrast betwwen the green of the vegetation nad the colors of the castle.

Just how I imagine the Rhineland to look like. This castle is amazing, I am fascinated by mediaeval architecture (as we here in Australia only have 200 years of European history). Excellent POV, good strong colours and contrast.

We just returned from Germany this week.
This is a nicely composed shot using the vertical format to emphasize the height of the castle while including the gardens in the foreground. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness.

Bürresheim Castle looks simply beautiful! You had a favourable light which emphasized the architectural details; I love the fact you've included a bit of the garden or park adding graphism and a sense of distance. The sky just gives more impact to the castle.
