Photographer's Note

I hesitated to put this under the "artwork" category, as the monument's ugliness is almost insurpassable. Why produce a boat from concrete?
The reason is that the village of Kripp (fraction of Remagen) used to be a towers' village in the times when engines were not available and all Rhine river navigation upstream had to be done by towing the ships which were rather small then.
More interesting, but difficult to access: the brand new river unit of the local fire brigade.
In the background: the city of Linz, for comparison see, showing a more upstream view which fits directly to the right side here.
