Photographer's Note

Trifels in the Palatinate is one of Germany's most significant castles and is over a 1000 years old. During the middle ages, the German imperial insignia were kept here as the complex was very secure. Also, the English King Richard the Lionheart was kept here prisoner for about a year after being held by Leopold of Austria on his return from the crusades and then handed over to the German King for ransom.

THe town in the photo is Annweiler which is located at the base of the hill.
