Photographer's Note

Monschau - or Montjoie - is a picturesque small town in a narrow Eifel valley, only 3 kms from the Belgian border.
The city was once famous for its production of fine cloth. For this purpose, better types of wool were necessary which were not available in the Eifel and therefore had to be imported. On the other hand, the produced cloth fulfilled highest standards and could be sold or exported for a very good price.
The Red House was mansion and manufactory of a renowned clothmaker and finished in 1768.
It was one of those Eifel days with extremely brilliant burning sunlight and lots of details drowning in a black shadow.
