Photographer's Note
In the times of Napoléon there was no German nation, and Rhine river's left bank was part of France.
German poet Ernst Moritz Arndt called up the Germans to consider the river as "Germany's stream, not Germany's border".
The image (taken from Drachenburg castle) with a view upstream shows that the idea of a midstream border simply does not fit!

Even some parts of the sky are overexposed, this is a splendid view on this River in early spring.

Hello Sven,
Magnificent view from the height of the castle to wards the river and island. Excellent clear visibility from the closer slop to the far side banks despite the grey clouds above.
