Photographer's Note

Second title: Not the Auto- und Uhrenwelt 17.

With this photo I will terminate my series on old German cars, mostly from Auto- und Uhrenwelt, Schramberg, Black Forest, now prolonged by three captures from Haus der Geschichte, Bonn.

Dr. Konrad Adenauer (1867-1967), CDU, was the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany and served from 1949 until 1963.

As his official car he always selected a Mercedes Benz 300, starting with type W 186 (for insiders) from 1951. 115 HP, vmax = 160 km/h; this car was taken from the normal serial production and - together with Porsche 356 1500S - was the fastest one of German origin then.

It is the first exhibit which you see when you take the direct access from the Bonn subway into Haus der Geschichte.
