Photographer's Note

When I saw this I must think of the small waterways in Netherlands. However my photo was taken in the small town Steinhude on banks of "Steinhuder Meer", a lake not far away west of Hannover. It is the biggest inland lake of north-western Germany with an average depth of only 1,35 m and an extension of 30 km².

Steinhude is a really homey place and a popular destination for sailors, surfers and swimmers and it has wonderful beaches. It also is famous for its smoked (only beechwood!) eels which you can eat there in many cozy restaurants ...
