Fairy Tale Castle, a photo from Bayern, West

Photographer's Note

The famous Neuschwanstein castle in the very South of Bavaria. We were really lucky last week-end to have picture-perfect weather for our trip to the region known as Allgäu to visit these wonderful castles. King Ludwig II had the castle built as his residence in the 19th century and it is extremely famous among Japanese tourists to visit this castle (in fact I think 90% of the tourists there are Japanese). Although this place is really crowded it is a nice day trip and you can also go hiking in the area or swimming in the Alpsee which is very close by. Near the Neuschwanstein castle there is another nice castle called Hohenschwangau, the summer residence of Ludwig II's family when he was little. I will post a shot of Hohenschwangau within the next days.
P.S.: I used a polarizing filter to get such a deep blue sky. I just bought it recently so almost forgot to point out my newest acquisition ;)

Ulrike, nice point of view. The sky polarized is great. Nice tones and saturation. The arquitecture looks very interesting. This place is beautiful.

Indeed a fairy tale castle, I have seen it before but it s nice to see it again from another angle. Crisp colors, beautiful sky and good dof, a true postcard image.

It's a classic castle but the quality of your photo is very high as the details are so sharp and the whites are not too white. Furthermore the clouds are absolutely stunning.
