Photographer's Note
The maypole is a tradition going back to the 16th century. Young people of the village work together to select and cut down the tree, to transport and to decorate it. During the preparation it is necessary to guard the maypole because young people from other villages may try to steal it. The setting up of the maypole is a big feast for the whole community.
(from Wikipedia.org)
Shot in the village of Jachenau in the south of Munich near the border to Austria. With about 886 people it is the smallest community in Bavaria.
In the workshop i posted two more detailed photos.

Hello Thomas,
This photo brings back memories of my visit to small villages in Bavaria. :-) I like the view of the action, with the traditional clothes, and the beauitful guest house. It is so typically Bavarian.

It seems that you had a priviledged position near the men to be able to take this pov. I think you did a good choice because you can see both the maypole and the house diagonally and this gives a great sense of perspective and depth. The scene is very interesting and so are it's surroundings. The light management is pretty good for I can see the the contrast is very strong in the scene. A fine document and a good work.
thank you also for the interesting ws.
All the best,
Donato
